A day after the news of his sister Paris Jackson's hospitalization for a suicide attempt, Prince Michael Jackson I has bowed out of a scheduled appearance on highly rated German TV show.
Prince Michael, 16, was to have filled in for Paris, 15, on Wetten, dass ...? (Wanna Bet?). Paris was originally booked on the program for its summer edition filmed in Mallorca, Spain.
On Thursday, a spokeswoman at German TV station ZDF told PEOPLE that the production team is in contact with Prince Michael's management, which canceled his trip to Europe.
Said the rep, Silke Blömer, "Under these circumstances, we perfectly understand that Prince Michael prefers to stay close to his family. We wish Paris the strength and the power to recover soon."

Everyone is way off base here. We should be looking at the fact that because she called the hotline, she was saved… and that's a GOOD DAMN THING! That's not an excuse to brush off the seriousness of her issues!
Depression is not something to push aside, and when someone goes so far as to cut themselves with a meat clever and take a load of pills, you bet your asses we're going to take it seriously and get them the help they need — not just sit here and chalk it up to being a dramatic teenager.
Paris is a smart young girl, and she's been dealt a hard childhood. Let's lift her up instead of being part of the problem!

Paris Jackson was rushed to a Los Angeles Hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday morning after attempting to commit suicide, reportedly with no intent on actually killing herself.
Paris called a helpline before her attempt, and also left a note; and despite police officially labeling the incident a suicide attempt, a spokesman told TMZ.com that her actions were just a cry for attention.
"It makes no sense if you really want to die to call a hotline, where the person on the other end will get an ambulance over to your house," the source said.
Paris, the daughter of late King of Pop Michael Jackson, reportedly flipped out because she wasn't allowed to go to a Marilyn Manson concert, something a source called "the straw that broke the camel’s back" while speaking to FOX411.
“Look at her life, it’s not normal and this is hardly a surprise. While this is the most serious attempt, it is not the first time," the source, closely associated with the Jackson family, told the news giant's Pop Tarts column. "There have been many signs of problems before this.
"Paris is now surrounded by people that, up until a few years ago, she barely even knew. Before that, she spent her public life wearing a mask and witnessing the problems that her dad had," the source explains.

File this one under OMGWTFBBQ (yes, I've got a whole celebrity news folder with this title, I put all my Amanda Bynes stories there): there's an audio tape of the doctor convicted in Michael Jackson's death calling Paris Jackson to console her after her suicide attempt. As in Conrad Murray, the man accused of gross medical negligence, including but not limited to giving Jackson Propofol for insomnia and not following protocol when Jackson went into respiratory arrest on June 25, 2009.
TMZ has audio of the call, and it's a doozy. Murray must have been calling from a jail pay phone, and he had quite a bit to say to the daughter of the man whose death he played a key role in causing.
The latest news on 15-year-old Paris's suicide attempt is that she called a suicide helpline before slitting her right wrist with a meat cleaver and taking a large amount of Motrin. It sounds like a classic cry for help from a girl whose emotional pain has become overwhelming, and people are saying her depression is directly linked to her father's untimely passing.
Her grandmother Katherine issued a statement about Paris's hospitalization, saying,
Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you.
I have no idea what kind of relationship Paris Jackson has with Conrad Murray, but the plain fact that he was convicted in November 2011 of the involuntary manslaughter of her father makes it seem mind-blowingly crazy that Murray actually called her to offer his affection and counseling services.

If any family is a bigger media darling than the Kardashians, it would be the Jacksons.
This morning while heading into the office, I saw the cover of the New York Post. It read "The Jackson Curse," with a picture of Paris Jackson on the cover. I immediately thought, "I hope none of the Jacksons try to sell her suicide note, picture of the room, or any stories about how Debbie Rowe is brainwashing her daughter."
As you know, I'm in media, it's my job to gather as much information about every situation that goes on in the spotlight - but we must draw the line somewhere. When a child's life is on the line.
Already it seems like two thirds of the Jacksons have released statements about Paris' recent suicide attempt. Debbie was first, Katherine was next. Jackie, Marlon and Tito chimed in as well.
Look, there is something called privacy and it's time to take advantage of it.
Right now, the public doesn't need to be told "thanks for your prayers," the public doesn't need to be told anything. It's time to make sure Paris is getting the attention and the love she deserves. She is in pain and that pain needs to be examined and healed. The healing process is going to take time.

Mi era sembrato molto giusto, li per li, ma poi mi sono chiesta, come mai, nello squallore solito a cui purtroppo noi siamo ormai abituati, si trova stranamente questo genere di articoli. E da persone dei Media?

Ma poi osservo.. intanto alla scrittrice sfugge la parola "tentato o tentativo di" più di una volta, in specie nel titolo, il che evidenzia comunque la ricerca di scoop tipica dei Media, ma non solo.. questa secondo me è pura ipocrisia di fondo, la dove si cerca e nemmeno tanto velatamente di "incolpare" il comportamento dei Jacksons, come causa principale della situazione.
I Media ??? Ma dai.. si sono fatti grassi con Michael, e quindi con SUO PADRE, e continuano a farlo, per anni ed anni senza avere la minima dignità o sensibilità e poi.. fai la moralista su come i Jackson si dovrebbero comportare? Come a ergersi in un gradino superiore di sensibilità e di coscenza quando lo scopo è solo quello di incolpare la famiglia?

The reasons for her attempted suicide became more clear Thursday as Michael Jackson’s only daughter remained hospitalized for at least the remainder of a mandatory 72-hour psychiatric evaluation.

A police source confirmed to the Daily News that the 15-year-old cut her wrist with a kitchen knife and took 20 Motrin painkillers at 1:27 a.m. Wednesday. The attempted suicide happened in the Calabasas, Calif., mansion she shares with her brothers, Prince, 16, and Blanket, 11, and grandmother, Katherine Jackson.
In addition to the stress of having to testify in the Jackson family’s high-stakes trial against concert promoter AEG over the King of Pop’s death, Paris had also become increasingly overwhelmed by cyberbullying that followed her every tweet, a source close to the family said.
“She reads it all and it upsets her. She is a hard shell with a soft center,” the source said.
“She makes out that she’s got it all under control but underneath she is hurting because of all these cyberbullies.”
Her tweet, “I wanna be a fishie,” accompanied by an image of her underwater provided one of many brutal examples.
“Die . . . lesbian,” responded one troll on Twitter.
On May 29, a Twitter war with another user included such insults as “you’re such a bully. That’s why your dad is dead,” “ugly bitch” and “your dad touched little boys.”
Another seemingly innocuous tweet by Paris saying she would miss a group of fellow teenagers provoked this vicious response: “MJ is a sex offender lol.”
Some of Paris’ sympathizers online have even noticed the bile and urged her to ignore it. “Try not to take this cyber bullying seriously okay,” wrote one user.
But Paris’ anxiety wasn’t just exacerbated by the cyber realm.
A source said Jacko’s daughter also has felt increasingly isolated from her family.
“Paris has been depressed for a while. She stays in her room all the time and only comes out for meals. She doesn’t interact with anyone in the house,” the source told Daily News Confidenti@l. “Prince has his (driver’s) license and his own car and a girlfriend who also has her own car, so he’s not there much. Blanket is too small for her to hang around.”
Another source said it seemed likely Paris would remain hospitalized at least another week.
“Physically, Paris is a lot better, but she has a lot of work to do down the road to get better mentally. She has severe depression. This isn’t the first time she’s been treated for it,” a source close to the family told The News. “This isn’t out of the clear blue.”
When Jackson is released, the source expected she would move in with her biological mother, Debbie Rowe.
The pair has only recently reconnected following Rowe and Jackson’s divorce in 1999. Paris had been staying with Rowe on the weekends and plans to spend the summer on her ranch northeast of Los Angeles, the source said.
“Katherine (Jackson) really isn’t equipped to deal with this right now, and Debbie has a background in health in psychology,” the source said.
But on Thursday, Rowe appeared to be on the verge of cracking, as well.
“You want to see the aftermath of devastation,” she wrote on her Facebook account in a rambling message directed at paparazzi. “Those of you that sit like vultures in preparation to continue to attack my children anyway you can go to hell.”
As the Jackson family circus got into full swing, the dastardly doctor who killed Jackson reemerged.
Conrad Murray reached out to Paris from Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles where he is serving a four-year sentence for delivering the fatal dose of sedatives to Jackson in 2009, TMZ reported.
“I don’t know if there’s anything I can do to solve your pain or help you with your problem, but I wanted you to know that I am here for you,” Murray, 60, said in a recorded message posted on the gossip site. “I have never been gone.”
In the bizarre message, he even echoed the lyrics of one of Paris’ dead dad’s hits, “You Are Not Alone.”
“Just know that you are not alone,” Murray said. “I am here for you.”
Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011, after a jury held him responsible for providing Jackson the lethal cocktail of drugs that killed him in 2009.
The death led to the ongoing high-stakes legal battle that could cost concert promoter AEG billions.
The Jackson family claims the company acted negligently in hiring Murray as Jackson’s doctor for the doomed This Is It tour.

'So the bottom line is we have an 83-year-old woman raising teenagers by herself, and that just won’t fly,' they added.
TJ is said to have upped sticks and left the area a few months ago and relocated to the town of Corona, and reported failed to tell the correct authorities.
But a separate source, close to the estate, said: 'They [the executors] are very satisfied with him.There is no issue.'
The singer, who was appointed co-guardian of his uncle's children last year, was chosen because of his responsible nature and his close proximity to the family.
He was made their temporary guardian when his grandmother Katherine went to a spa in Arizona in July 2012 and was reportedly out of contact.
But her guardianship rights were reinstated a little while later after a lengthy court battle, and she now shares the duties with her grandson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, documents obtained in March show that Tito Jackson's son currently receives $9,000 a month for his duties as co-guardian.
The documents filed with the LA Superior Court state that, at the time, TJ spent four or five days a week in the children's home with them, clocking up an estimated 60-80 hours a week.
The singer lived in a residence close by by with his wife and three children before he reportedly relocated.
Paris Jackson's mother Debbie Rowe, grandmother Katherine and aunt La Toya Jackson were all spotted visiting her at her LA hospital after she was admitted after her suicide attempt.
