Michael Jackson's fans hoping Sleaford tribute will be a thriller

FANS of the King of Pop Michael Jackson are invited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his seminal album Bad this weekend.
In tribute to the superstar, a party will be held for fans from across the country in Sleaford on Saturday, September 29, from 7pm until 11pm.
The Michael Jackson UK FanFest will include music, films, a Jacko karaoke, quizzes and a celebratory cake inspired by Bad.
It will also be a chance for fans to don their own glittering gloves and black loafers and meet with like-minded people all touched and inspired by his music.
Entry requires a £5 donation to one of the singer's favourite charities, the Great Ormond Street Hospital through www.justgiving.co.uk.
When the donation has been made, forward the confirmation e-mail to mjukfan [email protected] and the location will be revealed.
Emma Fairfield, 38, co-founder of the fan-fest, said that Michael Jackson's music taught many important messages still relevant today.
She said: "I remember when I was 12 my dad used to have the gatefold LP of Thriller and on the inside Michael was laid down with a baby tiger.
"I used to just sit with that album in my hands.
"But I really got into him when Bad was released. I was an impressionable teenager when I first heard Man in the Mirror and it was a really momentous song – it changed my life. To me though, it's all about the messages that are in his songs. If you actually listen to them, you can use them to teach really important values.
"For example, Dirty Diana tells us to be faithful and not to have two partners at once, while Earth Song teaches us that we should recycle and look after the earth.
"So many of his songs have these really deep messages to try and encourage us to heal the world and make it a better place, which is all Michael wanted."
The Michael Jackson UK FanFest debuted in Sleaford last year to celebrate the singer's 53rd birthday.
The event raised more than £200 for Great Ormond Street Hospital and a toy drive was held for children at the hospital. The toy drive will return this year and guests are asked to bring donations new and old, which will again be given to Great Ormond Street.
Jacob Cheetham, 21, a lifelong Michael Jackson fan from Ruskington, said: "Bad is the album which elevated Michael Jackson from a pop star into a pop deity.
"His voice had evolved from that of a fragile star into a sexual and aggressive instrument. Each song on this album is perfection.
"It's absolutely the definitive Jackson album – a true genius at his artistic peak."

The most famous Jackson sister will be bringing her Janet Jackson Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour to Australia this October and November.
She will be performing songs exclusively off her chart-topping Number Ones CD at Burswood Theatre on October 18.
This tour has so far travelled to cities throughout North America, Asia, the UK and Europe to rave reviews, with a virtual collaboration with her now-late brother Michael on the track Scream delighting fans.
Originally the tour was to travel to 35 cities to match the 35 number one singles from her double disc album Number Ones, however high demand has resulted in an expanded world tour including Australia.
Jackson started her career on-stage in Las Vegas with her family at the age of seven, and went on to sign her first recording deal at 14.
The singer, songwriter, actor, dancer and producer has won five Grammy Awards, multiple MTV Awards, Billboard Music Awards and Soul Train Music Awards throughout her career.
Her Number Ones album was her second greatest hits compilation and was released in 2009 and this tour inspired by the album claims to be intimate with Jackson offering something different in each city, so no performance will be the same.

Former Michael Jackson Manager Pursuing Estate Over Commissions

Since Michael Jackson died in 2009, the estate has been raking in money, earning estimated profits of more than $300 million through music sales and licensing projects.
Now, the personal management firm of DeMann Entertainment, which represented Jackson from the lucrative period between 1978 to 1983, is seeking its cut from the newfound success.
On Tuesday, Demann Entertainment (formerly Weisner-Demann) filed a motion in LA Superior Court to compel arbitration with John Branca, the executor of the Michael Jackson estate.
Demann asserts that its 1978 personal management agreement with Jackson entitles it to certain monetary commissions as well as an "unrestricted and unlimited right" to audit financial records to make sure that proper commissions are being paid. The firm says it has read press accounts of the success that the MJ estate has enjoyed recently, and has reason to believe it has not been paid in full.
In January, Demann sent notice about its intention to audit, but allegedly the estate returned word that the firm would have to go through Sony Music, and that it would "support" such action.
This hasn't been sufficient for Demann, who has followed up with further letters to the estate, demanding to see its books, with belief that the estate is in control over full relevant financial documentation.
Having not gotten what it wanted, Demann next tried to trigger the arbitration provisions of its personal management agreement with Jackson, but according to the lawsuit, the estate has refused to submit the dispute to arbitration. Now, DeMann is seeking to compel it.

Now, we've got number 11: the "certified art appraiser" quoted about the trove's $900 million valuation is, in fact, not a member of the International Society of Art Appraisers, as Star Magazine reported. "He is not and has never been a member," Sara Porter, ISA's membership and operations coordinator, told ARTINFO.

A Michael Jackson impersonator brought his music to life at Fun 4 Kids
There were plenty of people doing double takes as Michael Jackson made his way around Fun 4 Kids this year, running dance workshops and performing a tribute show called 'The King of Pop'.
The person charged with being Michael Jackson likes to be known as 'TJ', and says he first came across Michael Jackson's music while flipping through his parent's record collection many years ago.
He taught himself many of Michael Jackson's dance moves and started appearing as an impersonator when he was around 12 years old. Having an older brother who was a professional dancer helped to hone his skills.
The tribute show he performs now aims to cover many of Michael Jackson's big tours including Bad, Dangerous, and History, encompassing many of his biggest hits along the way.
Unfortunately TJ never got to meet his idol, although he came close after winning tickets to the London performance Jackson was preparing for when he died.
Since his passing, TJ says interest in what he does has grown with more people wanting to get a taste of what a real Michael Jackson concert was like. There were certainly plenty of kids (and parents) lining up to watch his show at Fun 4 Kids, and to take part in the dance workshops he also ran over the weekend.
