Documentary on Michael Jackson Estate by Edward Bass

Follow The Money – An Investigative Documentary with Footage on How the Estate Matters were Handled

Los Angeles, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/11/2014 -- There have been new developments in the legal battle between the producers of “Michael Jackson: The Last Photoshoots”, a documentary. As per the article that appeared on The New York Post last month “The executors in charge of the Michael Jackson estate will be investigated in a documentary, Follow the Money, which is being produced by Edward Bass, who is already in a legal battle with them.” The documentary would focus on John Branca and John McClain, the attorneys of the Michael Jackson Estate ever since his death.

According to The Post’s journalist Richard Johnson, the attorneys have collected more than $20 million that had gone to Katherine, Jackson’s mother and his three children. As per the report the estate had also spent $17 million on legal fees.

“They don’t mind spending millions of dollars on litigation, because they are paying themselves” Bass quoted in the article. “Somebody has to challenge them. We want to set a precedent here”, added Bass. The report includes Estate Lawyer, Howard Weitzman’s comments stating “private moments that Jackson never agreed could be publicly and commercial exploited” when the footage was shown and offered to the estate. The estate turned down the footage after 18 months of negotiations.

Bass says “I think their intention was just to harass us and delay us from releasing it for the 5th anniversary of Michael’s death, as we obviously own the rights. It’s really a shame because when you see the film, you realize how heartbroken Michael would be if this were not released to the public.”
