Los Angeles (CNN) -- The doctor convicted in Michael Jackson's death sees the jury's verdict in a wrongful death civil trial as "justice."
"I cried because, for once, the world was allowed to hear some of the facts at they pertain to this matter -- a lot of facts that have been suppressed, much of which I was denied and my attorneys could not present during my criminal trial," Dr. Conrad Murray said on NBC's "Today" on Thursday.
He described himself as "relieved."
A jury found Wednesday that concert promoter AEG Live was not liable in Jackson's death. The jury found that AEG Live had hired Conrad Murray, but that Murray was competent.
"The jury's decision completely vindicates AEG Live, confirming what we have known from the start -- that although Michael Jackson's death was a terrible tragedy, it was not a tragedy of AEG Live's making," AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam said.
The jury rejected Putnam's contention that AEG Live did not hire Murray, but the conclusion that the doctor was not "unfit or incompetent" got the company off the hook for a potential billion dollar judgment.
The decision ended a five-month trial, but likely began a years-long appeal process.
It will not help Murray's appeal on his criminal conviction, however.
And the jury foreman disputed suggestions by Murray's legal team that the verdict supports his case. The foreman added that he would not want Murray treating him.SPOILER (clicca per visualizzare)Jackson lawyer: 'We found the truth'
"AEG has denied for years, and continues to deny, that they hired Dr. Conrad Murray," Katherine Jackson's lawyers said in a statement released late Wednesday. "The jury found unanimously that AEG hired Dr. Murray. AEG has repeated the mantra that this lawsuit was a shakedown. Such a statement is a slap in the face of the entire judicial system that allowed this case to get to a jury."
While the verdict means no money in damages for the Jacksons, the statement suggested they believe they gained something from the trial. "We have said from the beginning that this case was a search for the truth," it said. "We found the truth. AEG hired Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who is in jail for killing Michael Jackson."
Jackson lawyers, who were discussing the grounds for an appeal even before the verdict was read, indicated the legal fight is not over. "All options regarding the balance of the jury verdict are being considered," their statement said.
Katherine Jackson, 83, sat with nephew Trent Jackson and a lawyer for the reading of the verdict in a large Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday. She played a word game on her iPad while sitting on a hallway bench to pass the time before the reading. None of her sons, daughters or grandchildren attended court Wednesday.
Jurors became Jackson fans
Testimony by 58 witnesses over 83 days included intimate revelations by those closest to the singer -- pulling back the curtain on Jackson's dreams, passions, pain and fears. It shed light into his intractable insomnia that led to Jackson's death from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol just days before the planned premiere of his comeback concert.
Contrary to some expectations that the trial would damage Jackson's reputation with its focus on his drug abuse, jury foreman Gregg Barden said Thursday that what he saw and heard made him a bigger fan of the King of Pop. He bought some of Jackson's albums growing up, but it wasn't until serving as a juror in the wrongful death trial that he realized his talent, generosity and personality, Barden said.
Barden -- a high school football coach -- said he came close to crying in court when Jackson lawyers played a video of Jackson's children as he sang "Speechless," a song he wrote to describe his love for his children.
"This Is It" show director Kenny Ortega also won new fans from the jury.
Barden said jurors believed Ortega was "absolutely truthful" in his testimony about Jackson's deteriorated condition a week before he died, but his "miraculous" recovery at his last two rehearsals.
"He got emotional a couple of times and had to walk off the stand, we really felt bad for him, but he was also a man who put in so much work and so much effort and did everything he could, we felt, to try to help Michael," Barden said.
Several jurors, including Barden, applauded at the end of Ortega's dramatic testimony.
"It was just the absolute honesty of what he was doing," Barden said. "All of the sudden the jurors sitting there for all those months, we watched all these other guys get up there and we were asking 'Is that the truth or is that a lie?' Now all of a sudden we didn't have to do that. We could just relax and listen because everything he said was the truth. That's why he got applauded."
Fit and competent, but unethical?
Barden suggested jurors were boxed in by the wording of the second question on their verdict form: "Was Dr. Conrad Murray unfit or incompetent to perform the work for which he was hired?"
Jurors interpreted "the work" to be as a "general practitioner" who was expected to treat Jackson and his children for routine illnesses -- not to infuse him with profopol to put him to sleep every night, Barden said.
"Conrad Murray had a license, he graduated from an accredited college and we felt he was competent to do the job of being a general practitioner," Barden said. "Now, that doesn't mean that we felt he was ethical, and maybe had the word ethical been in the question, it could have been a different outcome. But because it was for the job he was hired to do, that was what we had to focus on."
Jackson lawyers argued that one reason Murray was unfit was because he had a conflict of interest. His deep financial debt made him conflicted to the point that he took dangerous risks with his patient because he feared losing the $150,000 monthly salary that AEG Live agreed to pay him to treat Jackson, they argued.
Jurors apparently did not see medical ethics as an essential element for a fit and competent physician.
HLN's Nancy Grace asked Barden if he believed Murray was unethical. "You betcha!" he answered. "Because he went way beyond what he was supposed to do."
Juror: AEG was 'in the dark'
Interviews with Barden and another juror indicate that even if they had decided Murray was unfit and incompetent, the jury still might not have held AEG Live responsible for the doctor giving Jackson the dangerous nightly infusions of propofol that eventually killed him.
"There was not one shred of evidence presented over five months to back up the fact that AEG could have known that Dr. Murray was doing that," Barden said.
Juror Kevin White agreed. "If AEG had known what was going on behind closed doors, it probably would have made a world of difference, but they didn't," White said.
AEG Live lawyers were apparently effective with their strategy of calling several of Jackson's former doctors to testify about how the singer developed close friendships with them. Jackson was talented at "doctor shopping" and keeping his various physicians in the dark about each other, they argued.
"Michael Jackson was pretty used to getting his own way," White said. "He was a big star. He had all these doctors who wanted to be his doctor and he could pretty much get what he wanted. If anybody said 'No,' well, they were out of the mix and he'd find somebody else."
Murray treated Jackson in an upstairs bedroom at his mansion, where no one else could see, White said. "How could AEG have done anything about it when they were kept in the dark?"
Murray's lawyer: 'This is huge'
No one seemed more surprised in courtroom when the verdict was read than Murray's lawyers. Valerie Wass, who had sat in on much of the trial so she could give personal reports to her jailed client, let out an audible gasp when the court clerk read the jury's "No" to the question "Was Dr. Conrad Murray unfit or incompetent to perform the work for which he was hired?"
Murray was "very, very emotional" when Wass visited him in jail to discuss the verdict Wednesday evening, Wass said.
The civil trial verdict has no impact on Murray's criminal appeal, "but in the court of public opinion, this is huge," Wass told CNN.
Murray, who is appealing his involuntary manslaughter conviction, is scheduled to be released from jail this month after serving two years of a four-year sentence.
His medical licenses were suspended after his conviction two years ago, but he could regain them, Wass said "He has a lot of patients who really want him to come back and practice," she said. "And we'll see."
On NBC, Murray said, "I will restart my life and, God willing, I will be a model to show the world that despite adversity, and when bad things happen to good people, they can restart their life and succeed.
The jury foreman bristled at the suggestion that Murray was vindicated by his verdict.
"Absolutely not," Barden said. "I don't see it as a vindication of Dr. Murray, and no, I would not hire him as my doctor. It's not a vindication. Again, it's the way the question was worded."
Asked by NBC whether he felt vindicated, Murray said the verdict showed him that "you have to wait on the Lord. You just have to know that he is there for you, and he is going to deliver his justice on his time."

Barden ha detto che i giurati sono rimasti incastrati nella formulazione della seconda domanda : "Il dottor Conrad Murray era incapace o incompetente a svolgere il lavoro per cui era stato assunto ? "
I giurati hanno interpretato " la questione " sul fatto di essere o meno un medico di base, che precedentemente si occupava della salute dei figli di Michael - e non certamente per iniettargli profopol per metterlo a dormire ogni notte ,ha detto Barden.
" Conrad Murray aveva una licenza , si è laureato in un'università accreditata e abbiamo sentito che era competente per fare il lavoro che avrebbe dovuto fare come medico generico ", ha detto Barden . "Ora, questo non significa che lo abbiamo considerato etico , e se nella formulazione della domanda ci fosse stato chiesto anche etico , forse il risultato poteva cambiare , ma dovevamo invece mettere a fuoco il fatto che fosse competente per il mestiere che era stato chiamato a fare " .
Gli avvocati dei Jackson hanno sostenuto che il motivo per cui Murray era inadatto era perché aveva un conflitto di interessi . Il suo debito finanziario era una questione di conflitto di interessi , al punto di fargli prendere dei rischi con il paziente, perché temeva di perdere lo stipendio mensile di 150 mila dollari che AEG live aveva accettato di pagare lui per curare Jackson .
I giurati apparentemente non hanno visto l'etica medica compromessa da questo elemento per un medico in forma e competente.

Le interviste di Barden e un altro giurato indicano che anche se avessero deciso che Murray era inadatto e incompetente , la giuria ancora poteva non ritenere AEG LIVE responsabile per il medico.
" Non c'era uno straccio di prova in oltre cinque mesi che dimostrasse che AEG poteva sapere quello che il medico stava facendo ", ha detto Barden .(n.d.r ma come noooo!! Il giurato,Kevin White ,concorda " Se AEG avesse saputo cosa stava succedendo dietro quelle porte chiuse , penso che le cose sarebbero andate in modo diverso, ma non lo sapevano ", ha detto White .
La strategia utilizzata dagli avvocati di AEG nel chiamare a testimoniare alcuni degli ex medici di Jackson è stata molto efficace, perche ha messo in evidenza le amicizie che il cantante creava con loro. Jackson aveva talento anche nel " comprarsi i medici" mantenendo fra l'altro i medici stessi l'uno all'oscuro degli altri .
" Michael Jackson era abbastanza abituato a ottenere quello che voleva ", ha detto White . "Era una grande star .E aveva tutti questi medici che non vedevano l'ora di diventare di fiducia per cui poteva facilmente ottenere quello che voleva. Se qualcuno diceva di no, usciva dalla cerchia e lui poteva ottenere quello che voleva da qualcun'altro ".
Murray si occupava di Jackson al piano superiore della sua casa, nella sua camera , dove nessuno poteva vedere , ha detto White . " Come poteva sapere AEG se era stata tenuta all'oscuro ? "

I couldn't agree more with the bolded. It's practically an epidemic as far as I'm concerned.
I was on this jury, and of all the places I've seen where this is being talked about, this community seems by far to be the most level-headed and approachable. So many passionate MJ fans rationally discussing the verdict rather than lashing out in anger is very nice to see, and makes me think this is probably the best place for me to make a small statement.
Initially I planned to avoid and ignore all the comments about the verdict after the trial ended. Because as soon as we answered 'no' to question 2 in the jury room, I knew how it would be reported and misunderstood ("DURR STUPID JURY HOW CAN CONRAD MURRAY BE FIT AND COMPETENT WHEN HE IS IN JAIL FOR KILLING MJ??? DURRR"). And sure enough, the very first question asked by the media when we got outside was "How could you find Conrad Murray competent?" And of course a bunch of hardcore MJ supporters outside were yelling, calling us stupid and confused, etc. So I figured rather than getting annoyed at misinformation being spread or seeing us called morons ad nauseam, it'd be better to just ignore it all.
Well that lasted about a day before my curiosity got the better of me, and I had to peek around to see what people were saying. I had to see if that version of us as idiots was the main narrative going on. Thankfully most people commenting on the verdict are actually looking at what we were instructed to consider, and agree with our decision. We knew from day 1 that no matter the outcome we would have people agreeing and disagreeing with the verdict, and I'm thankful that this jury did not concern itself with what people would say or think about us and decided to follow the instructions and base our verdict on the evidence in the case.
Just like our jury foreman, I went into this trial about as neutral as one could be towards Michael Jackson. I was 7 when Thriller came out so I grew up with his music and loved it, but I knew very little about his life other than what I'd seen in the media, and I honestly had no strong feelings about him as a person either way. I walk out of this trial completely understanding why he has so many fans who practically deify him. Who are so strongly attracted to his kind spirit, huge heart, gentle nature, love of his children and mother, etc. I totally get it now.
Every single witness who was questioned about whether they thought MJ was a good father (and almost every one who knew him closely was asked) sang endless praises about his love of his kids. If Prince's testimony is any indication, MJ was definitely a great father. The kid is bright, intelligent, caring, has great character and a great personality, and I truly believe MJ did a phenomenal job raising him in the few years he was able to. Honestly, every single juror came away feeling very positive about Michael Jackson as a person and father.
I know there was concern about MJ's image being hurt because of this trial, and maybe to outside viewers it was because of some of the details that came out. But for us in the jury in that courtroom for all these months, we just grew more and more fond of him during the course of the trial.
I'd like to say thank you to all the people I've seen here supporting us jurors in our decision, it really means a lot. I will be happy to answer anything I can about the trial if you'd like to ask and if I am able.

E' sempre più allarmante per me quante persone sembrano perdere la capacità di analizzare criticamente i fatti. E' spaventoso come ogni teoria illogica o teoria della cospirazione possa essere buttata là e la gente ci crederà senza prestare alcuna attenzione ai fatti. Randy e i Jackson hanno fatto un buon lavoro nel confondere le menti dei fan di MJ.

Non potrei essere più d'accordo con il grassetto. E' praticamente un'epidemia, per quanto mi riguarda.
Ero in questa giuria, e di tutti i posti in cui ho visto che si sta parlando di questo argomento questa comunità sembra di gran lunga la più equilibrata e accessibile. Tanti appassionati fan di MJ che discutono razionalmente il verdetto, piuttosto che scagliarsi con rabbia, è molto bello da vedere e mi fa pensare questo è probabilmente il posto migliore per me per fare una piccola dichiarazione.
Inizialmente ho pensato di evitare e ignorare tutti i commenti sul verdetto dopo la fine del processo. Perché non appena abbiamo risposto 'no' alla domanda n° 2 nella stanza della giuria, sapevo come sarebbe stato riportato e frainteso ("STUPIDA GIURIA COME PUÒ CONRAD MURRAY ESSERE IDONEO E COMPETENTE QUANDO È IN CARCERE PER L'OMICIDIO DI MJ??? STUPIDI"). E infatti, la prima domanda posta dai media quando siamo usciti fuori è stata: "Come avete fatto a giudicare Conrad Murray competente?" E, naturalmente, un gruppo di accaniti fan di MJ fuori gridavano, chiamandoci stupidi e confusi, ecc. Così ho pensato che piuttosto che farmi infastidire dalla disinformazione che veniva diffusa o dal vederci chiamare idioti fino alla nausea sarebbe stato meglio ignorare semplicemente tutto.
Beh, questo è durato circa un giorno prima che la mia curiosità avesse la meglio su di me, e ho dovuto dare un'occhiata in giro per vedere che cosa diceva la gente. Dovevo vedere se quella versione di noi come idioti era il racconto principale che circolava. Fortunatamente la maggior parte delle persone che commentano il verdetto considerano ciò che siamo stati incaricati di prendere in considerazione e sono d'accordo con la nostra decisione. Sapevamo fin dal primo giorno che non importa quale sarebbe stato il risultato, ci sarebbero state persone d'accordo e in disaccordo con il verdetto, e sono grato/a che questa giuria non si è preoccupata di ciò che la gente avrebbe detto o pensato di noi e abbiamo deciso di seguire le istruzioni e basare il nostro giudizio sulla prove del caso.
Proprio come il nostro portavoce sono andato/a a questo processo nella maniera più neutra possibile verso Michael Jackson. Avevo 7 anni quando uscì Thriller perciò sono cresciuto/a con la sua musica e mi piaceva, ma sapevo molto poco della sua vita a parte quello che avevo visto nei media, e onestamente non avevo forti sentimenti su di lui come persona in ogni caso. Esco da questo processo avendo del tutto capito perché ha così tanti fan che praticamente lo divinizzano. Che sono così fortemente attratti dal suo spirito gentile, dal suo enorme cuore, dalla sua natura gentile, dall'amore per i suoi figli e per la madre, ecc., ho totalmente capito adesso.
Ogni singolo testimone a cui è stato chiesto se MJ era un buon padre (e quasi a ognuno di coloro che lo conosceva da vicino è stato chiesto) ha cantato lodi senza fine del suo amore per i suoi figli. Se la testimonianza di Prince può rappresentare un'indicazione, MJ è stato sicuramente un ottimo padre. Il ragazzo è brillante, intelligente, premuroso, ha grande carattere e una grande personalità, e credo davvero che MJ abbia fatto un lavoro fenomenale crescendolo nei pochi anni in cui ha potuto farlo. Onestamente, ogni singolo giurato è uscito con una sensazione molto positiva su Michael Jackson come persona e padre.

Quando si inizia a non fidarsi più di qualcuno forse si diventa sospettosi, e posso anche pensare che essendo la MJJCommunity il forum più in vista di MJ sia più facile trovare quel forum che molti altri, per cui non mi sorprende di per se che possa aver scelto quel forum se queste fossero state le motivazioni addotte, in specie per un fan novellino ( diventato tale perchè giurato in un processo) che non sa muoversi e conosce poche cose.
Quello che mi insospettisce è che dichiari di averlo scelto.. perchè lo considera il più equilibrato. .ecco.. questa è un affermazione, per quanto scusata con i commenti letti in giro che francamente.. mi aumenta il sospetto.. esponenzialmente!!
