The Lunchtime Listen, 'Billie Jean,' by BWB (Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown)

BWB -- the trio of smooth jazz greats Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown -- is coming to the Akron Civic Theatre on Saturday.

I got to talk to Whalum to preview the show, and the conversation centered on the group's new album, "Human Nature.'' It's a tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson, but in terms of jazz.

Whalum and his BWB bandmates were able to take some of MJ's greatest hits, deconstruct them and reimagine them in a jazz structure, and the result is a project that shows just why the music resonated with so many.

"Billie Jean'' is just one example.
